Tips:

  • If the name of the farm is blue with an underline; that's a link to their website or Facebook page. Click on it for the most current hours and information.
  • ALWAYS call the farm or store BEFORE YOU GO - many farms have closed in the past year, and of course, we won't know until the season starts and we find they aren't open! Call to confirm their supply, their hours and whether they have trees, are allowing choose-and-cut or just precut trees; and which attractions or winter activities are available. All three can change during the short Christmas season, due to weather, demand and the farmer's business conditions! Farms get sold, shut down or run out of trees, and they don't all update me every day, let alone every year. For more tips to make your trip fun and successful, click here !
DON'T DRIVE OUT THERE IF YOU CAN'T REACH THEM (by phone, email or find current information on their website or Facebook page!
  • And please tell the farmer you visit in Boone and McHenry County, Illinois that you found their farm here! I need the farmers to realize that you found them here so that they will keep their information up to date!

And if you know of one I missed and want to add it or correct the information, please let me know! There are affiliate links on this page. Read our disclosure policy to learn more.

Comments from a visitor on November 02, 2009: "I visited the Richardson "World's Largest" Corn Maze this season with my family and took a walk through their Christmas trees. Trees of different sizes and shapes, a wide range of varieties -- I was truly impressed by their selection. We have been visiting the farm for years because of their appreciation of family tradition but weren't too thrilled with their choices two years ago. Last year was better, but we are very excited to visit this holiday season. What a great outing it will be!"
Comments from a visitor on September 01, 2008: "love the farm been going there for several years. My husband and I have been going to Richardson's farm for the last 10 years. We now have two children and have made it a family tradition. For the past three years, it has been very disappointing tree wise. Everything else is great. Hot chocolate, donuts, wreaths, kettle corn and the tractor rides. It's very family oriented. It makes us really very sad to say that we wont be going back there this year because the tree's that they have left are not very good. They are scrawny, mis-shapen and didn't appear to be properly cared for as they were growing. I think it's important to let people know before they drive all the way out there."
Comments from a visitor on November 20, 2008: "My family and I have been coming to this farm for many years. The last 2 years we have been very disappointed! Very much like the other family that sent feedback, the trees were not cared for and very little nice ones to choose from. More importantly we arrive at the farm the day after Thanksgiving when the first trees are allowed to be cut. This is a great family place and they really need to take care of their trees. We are looking for another place to go and recommendations would be appreciated!"
