NOTE: I cannot emphasize this enough: Please, ALWAYS call the farm or store BEFORE YOU GO to confirm their supply, their hours and whether they are allowing choose-and-cut or just precut trees.  All three can change during the short Christmas season, due to weather, demand and the farmer's business conditions! Farms change hours, get sold, shut down or run out of trees, and I have no way of knowing, because I can't call or visit every farm every month, let alone every day.   For Chestnuts, we open the second week of October, around the 14th, as soon as the Chestnuts begin to fall. We close the Monday before Thanksgiving, but continue to harvest and sell them at Skyline Ranch Christmas Tree Farm and Gist Road Tree Farm starting the day after Thanksgiving. We follow organic methods, but are not yet certified. Payment: Cash, only. We grow only Heritage Chestnuts of the Italian, Spanish, Chinese and American varieties (yes, these are true American Chestnuts that survived the Chestnut Blight in the early 1900's because of there isolation.) All of our trees are over 125 years old and are grown using organic practices. We do NOT have any of the modern "Colossal" cultivars and while our chestnuts are slightly smaller, their flavor is to die for!
